Engineers Without Borders
EWB-KU is a group of budding humanitarians that strive to change the world, one community at a time.  They travel abroad to improve the quality of life in developing communities by providing knowledge and resources to meet basic human needs and to promote sustainable development.  Their projects may include developing a clean water supply system, building eco-friendly composting toilets, increasing food production, setting up rain water catchment, irrigation systems, housing and construction, energy, transportation, communication or other issues depending on the needs of the partner community. EWB-KU actively seeks out students of all majors and discplines with the same desire to make a real difference in the lives of others.  EWB-KU provides unique experiences for students interested in engineering, government, law, foreign language, anthropology, economics, business, international studies, communications, environmental studies, and many other discplines that are relevant to tackling real-world problems.  On campus and in the local community, they emphasize volunteerism and social responsibility by partnering with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Success by Six, and the Wakarusa Wetlands Learners Project among others.
